2013

JEEHEE is a sculptural painter who lives and works in London. She earned her BFA in Oriental Painting from Hongik University in Seoul where she developed a unique perspective on harmonizing Eastern philosophies with contemporary art practices and recently completed her MFA in Fine Art with Distinction from Goldsmiths, University of London, demonstrating her strong theoretical research and polyphonic art practice. She was selected as an artist in residence at Turps Residency in London (2025), awarded Chelsea Arts Club Trust MA Material and Research Award (2023/24) with a scholarship, and longlisted for CBP Contemporary British Painting Prize (2024). Her works have been shown internationally including exhibition at "Focus Art" at Saatchi Gallery, "Uncanny Playgrounds" at Hypha Studios, "In the Emancipation of Self" at D Contemporary in London and "Non-Reductive Territory of You and Me" at Gallery Meilan in Seoul. She focuses on understanding the world through the unique patterns and rhythms that emerge as the "I" encounters the multitude of "You"s. This exploration is rooted in the artistic inquiry into how different entities within Chaosmos form Rhythmic Landscapes(Paysages Mélodiques), acquire subjectivity amidst chaos, and continuously engage in acts of creation, revealing the fundamental strength of humanity. She reconstructs Rhythmic Landscapes as visual-auditory works based on the methodology of 'Sculptural Painting' that crosses the boundaries between the two and the three-dimensional, and the concept of 'Sonic Agency' that sound can act subjectively in social and cultural contexts. Through this, she ultimately aims to build "The Second Landscape" where the audience, the work, and the space resonate together.
