‘Fragmented Reflections’ is Juna Kim’s first solo exhibition in the UK. Juna‘s paintings, created with bright acrylic paint, conte, and coloured pencils, depict various aspects of life through figures engaged in everyday leisure and personal experiences. These works convey the contrasting elements of life within fragmented spaces, evoking a sense of familiarity and unfamiliarity. They reflect stories imagined or personally experienced by the artist, expressing the joys, sorrows, love, and loss inherent in contemporary life. This show invites viewers to encourage reflection not only on the aspects of life we have lived and remembered but also on those we imagine, dream of, and long for. Memories do not exist as complete, linear narratives but rather as scattered fragments shaped by time, dreams, and shifting perspectives. Juna’s work examines how the same event or entity can be interpreted differently depending on one’s viewpoint. By portraying individuals with multiple facets of selfhood, she expresses the confusion and uncertainty inherent in the search for identity. Through these layered and fragmented images, the exhibition offers an introspective journey into the complexities of self-perception and the memory.
